With the incessant rain of the past few weeks it is great to have memories of fine days and some not so fine days on the bike in Ireland and abroad.
Here are a few fond memories:
The Barrow is the second largest river in Ireland at 81 miles long and it’s still waters run deep. A massive storm has seen the river rise to it’s highest levels since 2009. Thanks to Carlow County Council the effect of flooding has been minimised,
Unfortunately Graiguenamanagh suffered badly and there has been some small outbreaks of flooding around the county.
The Slaney, The Derry and the Burren are all on the rampage too and it is probably true to say that the smallest of the rivers, the Burren has flooded more extensively than the others.
With a break from the rain and a welcome appearance of the sun it was nice to get out and see some of the sights of the county on this Christmas break. Here are some images from across the county:

Here is a short loop close to Town ideal for taking young children on.
It’s a 15 kms loop and the roads are quiet with an option to take the Barrow Track from Town to Lanigans Lough.
There’s always something to see along the river.

Looking forward to using this Kona Sutra on the trail of Columbanus next year
Saint Columbanus The First European
Great documentary about Columbanus, which marks the 1400th anniversary of his death, presented by former President Mary McAleese. Nice to hear Myshall being mentioned as his birthplace.
