Weltenburg Abbey brewery is the oldest in the world, founded in 1050. by the Irish Monks of Columbanus.
Weltenburg Abbey was founded by the Monks of Columbanus. They have been using the same recipe to brew their famous beer since the year 1050!
By coincidence I met with Sabine McGrath, a native of the area who on hearing of the visit of the Bell to Carlow, where she now lives, made the instant connection and united the Beer and the Bell!
Probably the best Abbey Beer in the World.
